The two-piece back is broadly-flamed maple. The belly is very strong, medium-grained spruce. Based on the Amati Grand Pattern violins, this Rugeri Violin measures 355 mm (14") long. The upper bouts are 166 mm wide. The width at the lower bouts is 203 mm

Certificates include W. E. Hill and Sons (1936), Hart & Sons (1936), William Moennig Jr. (1959), and Rembert Wurlitzer (1965).

This Ruggeri violin is an aural as well as visual masterpiece. For power and tonal resonance, it compares with those of Guadagnini .
